The Urban Mine Platform, one of the key outputs of the Horizon Europe project FutuRaM, has been officially launched during Raw Materials Week on 20 November in Brussels. The platform is now publicly available and can be accessed here.
Bringing together data across seven major waste streams – including batteries, construction and demolition waste from buildings and wind turbines, end-of-life vehicles, mining waste, slags and ashes, and WEEE – the platform visualises stocks, flows, and recovery pathways of secondary and critical raw materials with projections up to 2050. It serves policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders seeking reliable, structured information for strategic planning.
During the launch event, attendees received insights into the policy context of FutuRaM, an overview of the project’s methodology, and a live demonstration of the platform’s interactive features. The session highlighted how the Urban Mine Platform supports a more resilient and circular European economy by providing accessible and harmonised data.
The event brought together participants from across the raw materials community and concluded with an opportunity to network and discuss the platform’s future applications.
About FutuRaM
FutuRaM, a Horizon Europe funded project, develops methodologies, reporting structures, and long-term models to strengthen Europe’s raw materials knowledge base. By aligning secondary raw material data with the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and supporting future recovery projects, the project contributes to diversifying supply sources and advancing Europe’s circularity goals.
